Terms & Conditions

Effective Date: June 1, 2025
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Boat Elope website and services. By booking an elopement, vow renewal, or private charter, you agree to the following terms.

1. Booking & Payment

To reserve a date, please use the Check Availability page. Full payment is due upon booking. Bookings are processed securely through our online system.

We accept major credit cards and PayPal via Squarespace Scheduling and Stripe.

2. Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel, please call us. We will do our best to reschedule your event for a future date, subject to availability. Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferable.

Cancellations within 48 hours of your scheduled event may result in the loss of your full payment unless caused by severe weather (see below).

3. Weather & Safety

We monitor marine conditions closely. If weather makes boating unsafe, Boat Elope reserves the right to:

  • Postpone or reschedule the event

  • Hold a dockside ceremony instead

  • Cancel with refund (only if rescheduling is not possible)

The captain’s decision regarding safety is final.

4. Guest Limit & Conduct

Our vessel is licensed for a maximum of 6 guests, including the couple. Alcohol may be brought onboard but must be consumed responsibly. We reserve the right to end the cruise early if unsafe behavior occurs.

You are responsible for the conduct of your guests and any damage to the boat caused by negligence.

5. Marriage License Requirement

If booking a legal wedding ceremony, you are responsible for obtaining a valid marriage license from your own state or Maine and bringing it with you to the event. Vow renewals do not require legal documentation.

6. Photography & Media

By booking, you grant Boat Elope permission to use select non-identifying images for promotional purposes, unless you request otherwise in writing.

7. Privacy

We collect only the personal information needed to process your booking and communicate with you. View our Privacy Policy for full details.

8. Limitation of Liability

While we take every precaution to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, Boat Elope is not liable for personal injury, property loss, or unforeseen interruptions beyond our control (e.g. weather, marine conditions, acts of God).

9. Changes to Terms

Boat Elope reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page and apply to future bookings.
